Bio:

Cordelia Harvey is a middle child among seven born to Jasper and Lucy Harvey in the village of Bellock. Jasper is a retired soldier who managed not to aspire to any great rank or legend, but come home to wife and toddling children with all his limbs intact. He is a woodcutter. Lucy has a green thumb and manages a small trade as a midwife and herbalist.

It was in the course of Lucy’s trade that the Harveys came into regular contact with the servants at the local Temple of Pelor. Clerics there ran a small school for local children, teaching them trades in exchange for their labor maintaining the temple. Cordelia was sent to work there tending the temple garden, putting some of her mother’s teaching to good use.

Unusual for a girl, Cordelia was a frequent visitor to the High Cleric’s office after having ended up in a fight. Rarely was there a fight among the children of the village that did not involve Cordelia. High Cleric Riordan was himself a child from a large family, however, and he recognized that Cordelia was rarely reported as being the instigator, and in fact was often more of a referee or defender for the smaller children. Wise to potential for good or ill in Cordelia’s protective streak, rather than punish her, he assigned her the duties of something of a “hall monitor” to keep the other children in line. Fights among the village children slowed nearly to a stop.

As the village children aged together, Cordelia gained something of a reputation for being their liaison to their elders, and expanded her role to include the duties of counselor and nurse as well. High Cleric Riordan recognized the potential for leadership, and gave Cordelia special tutelage to help her along in these areas. When she came of age, she entered formal training as a paladin in the church.

It was not more than a fortnight after Cordelia left Bellock on her young mission to explore the world when she met her current traveling companions, and facilitated the defeat of a Hedge Liche. Not a bad start to her career! She routinely writes of her adventures in the care of her oldest brother, Carson, who is a cleric of Pelor working in the scriptorium at the temple. When the adventurers arrive in a town, she tries to hire a messenger to carry her letters to Bellock for her.
